JOB DESCRIPTION

The position consists of two parts: as a youth worker/youth coach in the Unit for Advice and Support, and as one of the members of the municipality's outreach group, where staff from schools, social services, and leisure activities work in a team.

In the Outreach Group, you will be part of a team with colleagues from Advice and Support, Student Health, and Youth Activities. The mission is to work preventively and relationship-building with the municipality's youth, and the work takes place in schools, at youth centers, and in public spaces where young people are present. The main focus is to gain a relevant understanding of children's and young people's living conditions and to create trusting relationships with the target group to initiate various types of interventions based on this. These interventions can occur at different levels - structural, group, and individual levels, and can include class visits, girls'/boys' groups, theme meetings for guardians, night patrols, or concern conversations together with the police. Reaching young people who exhibit norm-breaking behavior early is of great importance for the group's way of working. If necessary, you guide the young person to other support that the school or social services can offer or to the Youth Center or First Line/BUP. Meetings with guardians may also occur, and the group should be able to receive calls from concerned adults and guide them to the right support. All work is done in close collaboration between the police, social services, schools, and leisure activities.

As a youth coach/youth worker, you work under the direction of social workers; in some cases, there may also be a court order regarding youth contracts. The target group for the intervention is young people with socially destructive behavior, addiction, and/or mental health issues, and the youth worker's tasks are largely determined by the individual young person's needs. The work involves, among other things, guiding the youth to a functioning everyday life with leisure and employment, breaking social isolation, changing environments, or offering an adult outside the young person's immediate network to talk to. Conversations often have therapeutic elements, e.g., if there is an addiction issue, but the purpose may also be to motivate the youth towards further treatment, school/work, and other activities that the youth is involved in. The work is done in close collaboration with family therapists, social services, schools, the police, and leisure activities, as well as the youth's own network.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker, social pedagogue, or similar. You have experience in youth work, preferably within both schools and social services, and in collaborating with other professionals. You also have experience in leading meetings and facilitating groups. You feel comfortable having conversations with young people and young adults and find it easy to collaborate both internally and externally. We would like you to have further education in areas such as addiction, crime, norm-breaking behavior, youth with neuropsychiatric disabilities, and solution-focused work/MI. In your work, you will meet people with various experiences and histories, so it is important that you are attentive and can listen to the person you meet to create good contact. The position involves a lot of teamwork, so high demands are placed on collaboration skills. It is also important that you are flexible in your work and have good initiative. A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.
